What's the difference between CDs you buy in stores and CDs that are "burned" off of a computer?
From a technical stand point, quite a bit. For starts, what we call a "replicated" or "custom manufactured" CD was never at any time a recordable disc onto which media was burned. Each disc is custom made from a process that first requires a glass master to be made from the CD-R "pre master" you provide us. For a complete description of the process click here.
At Studio A-Mirador, your CDs and DVDs are indeed, manufactured not burned. This ensures that your  discs will play on virtually any player in the world, something that can hardly be said about copies burned onto recordable media these days. Moreover, replicated discs have silk-screened labels as opposed to the "stick-on" or ink-jet labeling normally offered with CD-R "burns", so if you want your discs to look professional and function properly avoid settling for short runs.
Do you actually manufacture CDs at your facility?
No. Studio A-MIrador is authorized to function more or less like the sales and service arm of a Toronto based manufacturer. They, in turn, discounts their rates to us in exchange for us selling and administering their services. You don't pay more for their services plus you have the opportunity to take advantage of other related services not offered by the manufacturing plants. Such services include: audio mastering, graphic design services and marketing support .
What about packaging? Does Studio A-Mirador design and print folders, booklets, sleeves and digi-paks?
Absolutely. We have access to printers who specialize in this industry. As such, they offer unbeatable prices for all common print options available today. Plus they also provide us with templates for virtually all common packaging options available. If you want to try and design things yourself, everything you need is at your finger tips by downloading our templates. If you need some help, were here to assist in whatever way you need.
With the advent of the digital print industry, more and more consumers are handling their own graphic design and layout work. Unfortunately, with this opportunity come all the technical challenges involved in the process. I've heard I may need to get a license to include a cover tune on my album. Can you help me deal with this?
Yes. Before your project can be cleared for replication, there are a number of hoops we need to jump through in order to apply for or demonstrate your authority to replicate given material. But at Studio A-Mirador, we extensive experience directly supporting our clients in this capacity. We offer basic assistance with filling out the applications or we can also quote you on the cost of directly administering the process for you on your behalf.
